Assign Facilities and Equipment to a Business Unit in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Using .NET or Jscript

This illustration shows how to assign facilities and equipment to a business unit in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 with SetBusinessEquipmentRequest.  This example will be given in Jscript (SOAP) and in C# (.NET).

Ok, here is what the code looks like!
First in C#:

SetBusinessEquipmentRequest req = new SetBusinessEquipmentRequest();
//must specify guid for equipment or facilities
req.EquipmentId = new Guid("0313DBEF-C83B-E111-8DE8-1CC1DEF1B5FF");
//must specify guid for business unit you want to assign the equipment/facilities to
req.BusinessUnitId = new Guid("D006566B-DBFB-E011-89E3-1CC1DEE89AA8");
SetBusinessEquipmentResponse resp = (SetBusinessEquipmentResponse)service.Execute(req);

Check if a Solution Component is Customizable in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Using .NET or Jscript

This illustration shows how to check if a solution component is customizable in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 with RemoveItemCampaignActivityRequest.  This example will be given in Jscript (SOAP) and in C# (.NET).

Important Note:  The easiest way to get the Metadata ID for a particular solution component like an entity or relationship is to examine it using the Metadata Browser solution that comes with the SDK.  Just install the solution and choose your Entity or other solution component.

Ok, here is what the code looks like!
First in C#:

IsComponentCustomizableRequest req = new IsComponentCustomizableRequest();
req.ComponentType = (int)SolutionComponentType.Entity;
req.ComponentId = new Guid("70816501-edb9-4740-a16c-6a5efbc05d84");
IsComponentCustomizableResponse resp = (IsComponentCustomizableResponse)service.Execute(req);

To understand how to parse the response please review my post on using the DOM parser.
Now you can call the SDK.SAMPLES.RemoveItemCampaignActivityRequest function from your form jscript handler.

Thats all there is to it!

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 SOAP Logger for VB.NET RELEASED!!

Currently in the SDK in the \sdk\samplecode\cs\client\SoapLogger folder there is a great solution called the SOAP Logger that allows you to capture SOAP packets for CRM 2011 based on C# calls in .NET.  This is great for debugging purposes but is also very helpful when trying to generate Jscript calls by the methodology shown here: http://mileyja.blogspot.com/2011/03/crm-2011-jscript-soap-request-formatter.html

Up until now, there was only a tool for C# and none available for VB.NET.  I have taken the SDK C# version, referenced and built upon it, and created a version that works the same way for VB.NET.   This allows you to write your .NET calls that you want to generate in Jscript or debug in VB.NET instead of C#.  I feel that there hasn't been a whole lot of good support out there in the VB.NET realm for CRM developers and this should help remedy part of that problem..

You can download the solution from MSDN Code Gallery Here:  http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Dynamics-CRM-2011-SOAP-421cf3a1

Just like the C# version, just fill in the code in the spot provided, build, and run the solution and enter your server and credentials where prompted.  Then the output.txt file will automatically be generated  in the execution folder upon successful execution.

I hope this helps!

I Have Been Named a Microsoft Dynamics CRM MVP for 2012

Happy New Year Everyone!!

I am honored to say that I am now officially an MVP for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM  for 2012.  It's taken a lot of work to get to this point and I am very excited to see where this next year takes me.  I will do my best to live up to the expectations of the Microsoft MVP community.

Thanks!
