Retrieve Attribute History and Audit Data Using .NET or Jscript in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

This illustration shows how to retrieve attribute history and audit data in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 in code with RetrieveAttributeChangeHistoryRequest.   This example will be given in Jscript (SOAP) and in C# (.NET).

Important Note:  You must first turn on auditing for your organization in the "customizations - adminstration - system settings section" and also turn on auditing for the entity in the "customize the system - entities - double click your entity" section.  :)

Ok, here is what the code looks like!
First in C#:

RetrieveAttributeChangeHistoryRequest req = new RetrieveAttributeChangeHistoryRequest();
req.Target = new EntityReference("contact", new Guid("592AF7E6-ADC1-E011-8D7C-1CC1DE79838E"));
req.AttributeLogicalName = "firstname";
RetrieveAttributeChangeHistoryResponse resp = (RetrieveAttributeChangeHistoryResponse)service.Execute(req);

To understand how to parse the response please review my post on using the DOM parser.
Now you can call the SDK.SAMPLES.WinOpportunityRequest function from your form's jscript handler.
Thats all there is to it!

I hope this helps!

Convert a Quote to a Sales Order Using Jscript or .NET in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

This illustration shows how to set a quote's status to won and also how to convert a quote to a sales order record in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 in code with the WinQuoteRequest and ConvertQuoteToSalesOrderRequest.   This example will be given in Jscript (SOAP) and in C# (.NET).

One thing to note is that you must first set the status of your quote to won and then convert it to a sales order. This all happens as part of one contiguous step in the UI but requires two separate calls in code.

Ok, here is what the code looks like!
First in C#:

WinQuoteRequest req = new WinQuoteRequest();
Entity quoteClose = new Entity("quoteclose");
quoteClose.Attributes.Add("quoteid", new EntityReference("quote", new Guid("6EDE549D-A5BE-E011-8D99-1CC1DE7955DB")));
quoteClose.Attributes.Add("subject", "Won the Quote");
req.QuoteClose = quoteClose;
req.RequestName = "WinQuote";
OptionSetValue o = new OptionSetValue();
o.Value = 4;
req.Status = o;
WinQuoteResponse resp = (WinQuoteResponse)service.Execute(req);

// Define columns to be retrieved after creating the order
ColumnSet salesOrderColumns =
    new ColumnSet("salesorderid", "totalamount");

// Convert the quote to a sales order
ConvertQuoteToSalesOrderRequest convertQuoteRequest =
    new ConvertQuoteToSalesOrderRequest()
    {
        QuoteId = new Guid("6EDE549D-A5BE-E011-8D99-1CC1DE7955DB"),
        ColumnSet = salesOrderColumns
    };
ConvertQuoteToSalesOrderResponse convertQuoteResponse =
    (ConvertQuoteToSalesOrderResponse)service.Execute(convertQuoteRequest);
SalesOrder salesOrder = (SalesOrder)convertQuoteResponse.Entity;

To understand how to parse the response please review my post on using the DOM parser.
Now you can call the SDK.SAMPLES.WinQuoteRequest  and  SDK.SAMPLES.ConvertQuoteToSalesOrderRequest functions from your form jscript handler.
Thats all there is to it!

I hope this helps!

Close a Quote Using Jscript or .NET in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 With CloseQuoteRequest

This illustration shows how to close a quote in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 in code with the CloseQuoteRequest.   This example will be given in Jscript (SOAP) and in C# (.NET).

Ok, here is what the code looks like!
First in C#:

CloseQuoteRequest req = new CloseQuoteRequest();
Entity quoteClose = new Entity("quoteclose");
quoteClose.Attributes.Add("quoteid", new EntityReference("quote", new Guid("6A33955A-D3BD-E011-8D99-1CC1DE7955DB")));
quoteClose.Attributes.Add("subject", "Customer was mean so we just closed it.");
req.QuoteClose = quoteClose;
req.RequestName = "CloseQuote";
OptionSetValue o = new OptionSetValue();
o.Value = 5;
req.Status = o;
CloseQuoteResponse resp = (CloseQuoteResponse)slos.Execute(req);

If you need help instantiating a service object in .NET within a plugin check out this post:
http://mileyja.blogspot.com/2011/04/instantiating-service-object-within.html

Now here is the Jscript nicely formatted by the CRM 2011 SOAP formatter. Available at: http://crm2011soap.codeplex.com/

Now in Jscript

This example is asynchronous, if you want to learn how to make JScript SOAP calls synchronously please visit this post: http://mileyja.blogspot.com/2011/07/using-jscript-to-access-soap-web.html

To understand how to parse the response please review my post on using the DOM parser.
Now you can call the SDK.SAMPLES.CloseQuoteRequest function from your form jscript handler.
Thats all there is to it!

I hope this helps!

Close a Case Using Jscript or .NET in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 With CloseIncidentRequest

This illustration shows how to close a case in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 in code with the CloseIncidentRequest.   This example will be given in Jscript (SOAP) and in C# (.NET).

Ok, here is what the code looks like!
First in C#:

Entity caseResolution = new Entity("incidentresolution");
caseResolution.Attributes.Add("incidentid", new EntityReference("incident", new Guid("C9B4702B-6EBC-E011-8D99-1CC1DE7955DB")));
caseResolution.Attributes.Add("subject", "Customer was mean so we just closed it.");

//service.Create(caseResolution);

CloseIncidentRequest req = new CloseIncidentRequest();
req.IncidentResolution = caseResolution;
req.RequestName = "CloseIncident";
OptionSetValue o = new OptionSetValue();
o.Value = 5;
req.Status = o;

CloseIncidentResponse resp = (CloseIncidentResponse)service.Execute(req);

If you need help instantiating a service object in .NET within a plugin check out this post:

Now here is the Jscript nicely formatted by the CRM 2011 SOAP formatter. Available at: http://crm2011soap.codeplex.com/

Now in Jscript

This example is asynchronous, if you want to learn how to make JScript SOAP calls synchronously please visit this post: http://mileyja.blogspot.com/2011/07/using-jscript-to-access-soap-web.html

Get Information About a Specific Organization Using .NET in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

This illustration shows how to get information about a specific organization using .NET in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 utilizing .NET  with the RetrieveOrganizationRequest and the discovery serivice.

Ok, here is what the code looks like!

RetrieveOrganizationRequest req = new RetrieveOrganizationRequest();
req.UniqueName = "crmNAorgf3740";
RetrieveOrganizationResponse resp = (RetrieveOrganizationResponse)slds.Execute(req);

Below is what the returned envelope looks like.  You can see the different properties that will be returned in the response.

For information on how to log SOAP messages against the discovery service, check out this post:
